Mehmet Nuri ÖĞÜT was born in 1990 in Gaziantep, Türkiye. After completing his primary and secondary education there, he graduated from the Department of Elementary Mathematics Education at Karadeniz Technical University in 2012. In 2019, he earned his master’s degree in Mathematics Education from Gaziantep University, where his thesis focused on the relationship between mathematics teachers’ subject-matter knowledge and their use of technology. 

Between 2012 and 2020, he served in various roles within the Turkish Ministry of National Education, including mathematics teacher, school administrator, R&D coordinator, and Director of a STEM Center. He currently works as a project specialist at the Project Coordination Center of Manisa Celal Bayar University and serves as the Chairman of the Board of the STEM Educators Association, which he founded.

ÖĞÜT has led numerous national and international projects through which he established STEM/STEAM centers, organized science festivals, and provided various professional development trainings for teachers. The Şanlıurfa Science Festival he organized in 2018 attracted 300,000 visitors over three days, while the Manisa Science Festival held in 2022 hosted 172,000 attendees in four days. These events aimed to popularize science and raise public awareness of scientific literacy.

Among his notable projects is “STREAM It Up!”—Türkiye’s first hands-on STREAM education project funded by the U.S. Embassy. This initiative integrated science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics to develop innovative educational practices. The project was awarded a second round of funding by the U.S. Embassy in 2022. Additionally, with the “Scholar Women of GAP” project, he worked to empower women in STEM fields. At Manisa Celal Bayar University, he is responsible for founding and managing the Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Lab.
