Sustainable Development, 2025 (SSCI)
This research examines Generation Z's views in Türkiye on sustainable development within the framework of the United Nations' Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It addresses a critical gap by focusing on how Türkiye's youth view and engage with these global sustainability goals. The study employed a qualitative research method, conducting in-depth interviews with 15 participants from diverse academic disciplines. Using thematic analysis, key themes and patterns were identified from the interview data, which was analyzed using MAXQDA-24 qualitative analysis software. Key findings demonstrate moderate awareness of the SDGs among participants, focusing on quality education, gender equality, and poverty eradication. However, barriers such as social unconsciousness, governmental incompetence, and economic challenges are seen as hindrances. The lack of youth engagement opportunities and inadequate governmental support were also obstacles. In this context, future research could expand the sample to include a more diverse group of young people in Türkiye and adopt a mixed-method research approach to provide a more comprehensive perspective. Furthermore, the views of young people in Türkiye on sustainable development can be enriched through interdisciplinary studies.
