Özet

The main objective of women empowerment is to increase health, education and employment. Women’s empowerment will not only improve their own opportunities, it will also provide benefit for a new generation that is healthy and educated. Women who participate in vocational training and employment who get a regular income contribute to the country’s development. In developed countries gender discrimination is less and women’s socio-economic power is higher. As women’s level of education increases the age of marriage becomes higher, fertility and child death rates decrease; healthier, well-fed and educated children increase, participation in the labour force and portion of women’s national income increase.

Women’s social and employment status is much higher in Germany in comparison to Turkey. On the other hand, it is observed that women’s employment issues increase in some regions of Germany that experience emigration and in Turkey particularly in the city centres that experience immigration. The purpose of this study is to uncover the activities that are carried out to increase women’s employment in the spirit of social municipality in Germany and Turkey. Thus the difference in living standards of the women will be discussed between Germany, that is a developed welfare country, and Turkey. In this study first the importance of the matter and the content of the studies conducted on this subject are emphasized.
