Abstract

Antidepressant and anxioloytic activities of two endemic Ballota species: Ballota larendana Boiss and Heldr, and Ballota nigra L. subsp. anatolica P.H. Davis were investigated. It was found that both of these species showed antidepressant activity, B. jarendana also showed anxiolytic activity. Antidepressant activity of these species was compared with those of amitriptyline and Passiflora extract. Anxiolytic activity was also compared with that of diazepam.
