Abstract

In this study, we present a wire monopole antenna operating at 2.3 GHz through the utilization of an artificial magnetic conductor-based corner reflector to improve its performance. The proposed design incorporates two artificial magnetic conductor surfaces as a reflector, resonating within the frequency band of 0.9 GHz to 2.4 GHz, strategically positioned at a 90-degree angle and placed at a specific distance from the antenna. The introduction of this reflector has resulted in wider impedance bandwidth (S11 < = −10 dB) and a higher gain than monopole antenna. Simulations are conducted using the electromagnetic tool, and realized antenna has been presented, revealing an observed gain enhancement of approximately 10 dB. Because of using wideband artificial magnetic conductor reflector, low profile antenna which has 4.9-cm air gap between the antenna and reflector instead of 6.5 cm can be designed. Also, the antenna length became 23 mm instead of 31 mm.
