Özet

Fires cause negative effects on ecological balance and living things rather than material damage in the areas where they occur. To reduce and eliminate these effects, especially young individuals should be informed about fire education. In particular, the fire knowledge level of young individuals should be measured, and the quantity and quality of education should be regulated according to the results. In this study, it was aimed to determine the fire risk factors in the residences of vocational school students and to determine their knowledge level about fires. The study is a descriptive and cross-sectional study. The universe of the study consisted of 320 students studying at Gördes Vocational School between October 2021 and January 2022. However, due to the absence of students during the pandemic and the lack of online access/returns, 150 students could be reached. As a data collection tool, the “Socio-demographic Characteristics Form” consisting of 17 questions; “Fire Risk Factors Evaluation Questionnaire in Residences” with 30 questions; and “Information Questionnaire on Fire” consisting of 18 questions were used, which were created by the researchers in line with the literature. Data collection forms were filled out online through the Google Forms Program. Data was analyzed using SPSS 22.0 package programs. The study determined that the students' total scores on fire risk factors in their residences were high and their knowledge levels about fire were low. As a result, it was concluded that students have educational needs.
